Angela Baker, NP
Angela Baker, NP, has been with James River Cardiology since February 2021. Angela earned her Associate's degree in nursing in 2001 and a Bachelor's degree in nursing in 2018 from Eastern Kentucky University. She earned her Master's degree in nursing from ECPI University in 2020. She is credentialed with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Angela worked for nearly 20 years as a registered nurse in various settings.
More than half of her career has been in the hospital, most recently at John Randolph Medical Center, on telemetry and progressive care units, where she cared for patients with heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and acute coronary syndrome, as well as a variety of other chronic conditions. She has nursing experience in primary care, burns and wound care, and case management. The skills obtained while working as a registered nurse have assisted her in her current role as a nurse practitioner with James River Cardiology.
Angela enjoys getting to know her patients. She is passionate about educating patients on disease prevention and management with a strong desire to help her patients live their most productive lives. She maintains privileges at Southside Regional Medical Center, Southampton Memorial Hospital, Southern Virginia Medical Center, CJW, and Tricities Hospital. She is a Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners member and an American Nurses Association member. She sees patients in both the hospital and the clinic setting.
Outside work, she stays busy with two teenage children and a pet chihuahua. She enjoys attending sporting events and concerts, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
